Emblem

William George Alexander, a warrior, loving husband, father and friend, lost his battle with ALS in the early morning of May 19, 2022, at 65 years young. He’s survived by his devoted and loving wife, Susan, his daughter Danielle, and his brother James Alexander.

Bill, as he liked to be called, was born in Germany on October 3, 1956, to William and Helene Alexander and grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Not long after graduating from Douglas Byrd High School, Bill joined the Navy, entered the Navy Nuclear Power program, and spent thirteen years on submarines before leaving the Navy. But his time in the military wasn’t quite complete. Bill found a home in the Army National Guard as a weekend warrior and helicopter mechanic, and finally retired with twenty years of military service in 2001. Outside of the armed forces, Bill used his nuclear power skills in the chemical and power industries before he was diagnosed with ALS in 2015.

No matter the circumstance, Bill was a warrior and fighter—the most courageous, honorable, moral, and wonderful man anyone could meet. He was the life of the party, a jokester, an all-around Chatty Kathy. His Southern upbringing shaped him into a loving and caring man who would give you the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. His brilliant smile was blinding and lit up the darkest of rooms. He fought hard, played hard, and loved deeply and unconditionally.

In his spare time, Bill loved playing golf and fishing. When he wasn’t doing either, he was walking his dogs, Lucy and Josie, around the neighborhood, chatting up every neighbor from one end of the street to the other.

His love for life, food, and those he loved were stronger than the sun, and his beaming soul was as bright as the smile he had always worn. His final resting place is at his home in Rocklin, California.
