Warrette Rena Davis, at the age of 64, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, March 1, 2015, at
her home in Sacramento, California, with her loving, devoted husband by her side. She was
preceded by her parents, Walter and Ellen Ruth Schuller. Born June 23, 1950 in Washington, D.C., Warrette was the eldest of two children.
She graduated from high school in WashingtonDC, received a BA from Lake Forest College, (IL),
and her master's degree in Human Resource Management from National University (CA). Warrette was a leader and active member in several health care and human resource organizations.
A champion in the fight to raise awareness about domestic violence,
she was the keynote speaker in the video, Thirty Seconds At A Time, produced by Blue Shield of California to educate employees about domestic violence. During her tenure at Surewest and CCI Communications she served as a training specialist, developed a leadership program for managers and supervisors and traveled across America with her trusty cane "Kalinda" in hand.
While residing in Fresno, she mentored young women. Warrette, a member of the women's group the "Sistering", supported women and their families. In partnership with her longtime friend Kenneth B. Davis, Warrette produced several plays in Fresno.
In Sacramento, Warrette attended the Center of Praise Ministries. She volunteered at Wind Youth Services organizing their Christmas in July program sponsored by Surewest Communications. For several years Warrette supported the Over-Flowing Cup in the Bay area. In April 2014, she was honored and received the "Strength and Courage Award". At each annual ball, Warrette was famous for dancing the night away. She also provided support at the Women's Empowerment Center helping homeless women.
Warrette leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Carl A. Davis, her Washington D. C. family: brother, David Lockwood, aunt, Estelle Harrison, cousins, Vickie Elliott, and Jeffery Steele (New York, NY), stepchildren: Vivian Price (Little Rock, AR), Troy (Sonya) Davis (Bakersfield, CA), Angela Davis (Palmdale, CA), nine grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
