Vincent Hans Sponholz

April 19, 1962 — May 1, 2014

It is with deep sorrow in my heart that I have to tell you that I lost my youngest son, Vincent Sponholz, on May 1, 2014. He had been ill for quite some time, but we did not think that it was life threatening. He was just 52 years old. It is not in the nature of things that a father has to bury a son, so it is very, very heart breaking. He attended St. Matthew's Catholic School in San Mateo, Hillsdale High School and College of San Mateo. Vince was a bright, loving and humorous young man, who, unfortunately was bothered by many demons. For a while he was able to control them and, after moving to Rocklin with his young family, built a successful security company, installing systems in facilities such as Home Depot, Dollar Stores, and several others, as well as installing home alarms systems. He loved to go up into the Sierras to hunt deer and spent many hours with a fishing pole in hand. He was an ardent fan of the 49ers, the San Jose Sharks, and the SF Giants. He also loved music, often singing to the family dog, Dakota, to calm her. Vince had a green thumb, learning gardening during his troubled teens, and grew some amazing plants in his gardens in Rocklin. He is survived by me, his dad, Richard; his son, Erik, and wife, Morgan; Erik's mother, Jane; his brother, Richard; and his sisters, Marie, Marjorie and Vani. I miss you my son.
