On May 20, 2024, Valerie Marie Pasdera passed away after suffering a brain injury.
Val was born on December 20, 1957, in Fortuna, California. She grew up there with her parents, Jean and Roger and her younger siblings, Greg, Brad and Melanie. Val was intelligent, athletic, determined, hard working and fun loving. She played the piano, enjoyed tennis, and was a member of the the swim team. At an early age, she developed a deep love and appreciation for animals that spanned her whole life. She adopted everything from kittens to a horse that briefly lived in the backyard.
She moved to the Sacramento area and attended Sacramento State University, receiving a Master’s degree in Education. She married her husband, Rick, in 1989 and their beloved only child Nicole was born in 1994. They built a tight unit centered around family, education and dogs.
Val became focused on her passion for labradors thirty-four years ago and has been training her labs ever since. She won many awards and, most recently, was blessed with her first litter of puppies.
Val always valued education and was a life-long learner. She became a teacher and for thirty years taught elementary school children to live, laugh and appreciate animals.
Family was the most important part of her life and Val, Rick, Nicole and the dogs were inseparable: supporting Nicole’s activities, sharing adventures, going crazy for Christmas, and laughing together. In the hearts of those who knew her best, Val will be remembered for her kind spirit, warm smile, her beautiful eyes that twinkled when she laughed and her unwavering love for her family.
Val will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
