Skip was born Chris Eugene Gebel in Canton, Ohio, on November 28, 1946. As a child of a Navy Petty Officer, Skip traveled to many places from Virginia and Florida to California and the Pacific island of Kwajalein. As an adult, Skip continued travelling after joining the Navy himself, ultimately becoming a Petty Officer First Class. His daughters were born in Maryland and Spain. After eleven years in the Navy, Skip separated from the service and began his civilian career in information technology in 1976. In 1978 Skip married Carol Williams Krieg, and they began their 41 years of life together. They spent most of these years in California, moving to Rocklin in 1996. During the Rocklin years, Skip volunteered with the Rocklin Historical Society and served a term as President. Skip was known for his humor, love of family, and his dedication to any endeavor he pursued. Skip Gebel ended his life's journey on January 6, 2020.
