Ruth Fury

Ruth was born in Oakland, California on March 12th, 1948. The family soon moved to southern California and Ruth grew up surfing the beaches in Orange County and San Diego with her brothers Ralph, Richard and Ronald Cordonnier. Remember the old beach movies? Iron straight hair, volleyball games and fires in the sand at night. That was Ruth.

Ruth attended grade school and high school in Anaheim. Ruth and her brothers were frequent visitors to Disneyland. As the story goes, there was a hole in the park fence and the Cordonnier kids would be found many an evening listening to music and staying for the fireworks. Oddly enough, her favorite was Tweety Bird, who by the way, is not a Disney character.

Ruth was most proud of her 3 sons Ralph Mann, Jason Fury and Craig Fury. Many would say Ruth had a mind of her own. But that’s a good thing when raising 3 sons, doing what needs to be done and keeping them safe, no matter what.

Early on, she worked at Winchell’s Donuts in the morning, became team mom for afternoon sports, and attended nursing school at night. After receiving her nursing degree, Ruth moved to Roseville, California, and began her career as a pediatric nurse at UC Davis Medical Center. She thoroughly loved caring for all children and did so for some of the most ill patients in the Sacramento area. For many years after retiring, Ruth longed to return to the profession she loved.

Ruth loved everything about the ocean. Ruth and Richard visited Hawaii annually for many years and sampled the beaches on every island. Also, she was an avid collector of sea themed art, clothes, jewelry, seashell candles, turtle trinkets, pelican bathtub decorations and more.

Ruth is preceded in death by her brothers Ralph, Richard and Ronald Cordonnier. She leaves behind Richard, her husband of 41 years, and sons Ralph Mann, Jason Fury, and Craig Fury. Also, Mother-in-law Trudi Fury, Daughter-in law Lorena Gorringe-Mann, and beloved grandchildren Autumn Fury, Ryan Cisneros-Mann and Riley Cisneros-Mann.
