Rosalie Irene Black

In loving memory of Rosalie Irene Black, known affectionately as Rosie, a cherished educator and adventurous spirit who touched the lives of many with her kind heart and perpetual smile. Rosie was born Rosalie Irene Rudolph on April 7, 1938, in Sioux City, IA, to her loving parents Paul and Irene Rudolph. She peacefully passed away on March 9, 2024, in Citrus Heights, CA.

Rosie earned a Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University in Education. She dedicated herself to teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade, even guiding students of different grades in a one-room country schoolhouse. Her commitment to nurturing young minds left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to learn from her.

Beyond the classroom, Rosie found joy in exploring the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota with her family. Rosie and family had many adventures visiting Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Hill City, or enjoying camping, fishing, and hiking. She also had the opportunity to be part of a movie filmed in the Black Hills, "Orphan Train".

In addition to leaving behind a legacy of compassion and knowledge, Rosie is survived by her son Doug Black, daughters Linda Fitzgerald and Karen Prather. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her father Paul Rudolph, mother Irene Rudolph.

Rosie's big-hearted nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in tranquility knowing that her spirit lives on in the memories shared by those whose lives she touched profoundly.

A beloved mother, educator, and adventurer—Rosalie Irene Black will forever remain alive in our hearts.
