Robert Bossard Sydow

Robert "Bob" Sydow passed away on July 14, 2021 at age 81 at Sunrise Senior Living in Rocklin, CA, from multiple long-term medical conditions. He was born in Torrance, CA, on January 26, 1940 to Arthur and Mary Ann Sydow, who have pre-deceased him. Bob married Jean (Grodrian) Sydow in Chico on August 30, 1969.
Bob lived most of his elementary and high school years in Iowa and Cole Camp, Missouri on the family farm. He graduated from Chico High School. He was a mail carrier for the Malibu post office. Bob worked for Caltrans for 37 years in various areas in CA, the last 22 as Highway Maintenance Supervisor in Los Banos, CA, retiring in 2000. Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, waterskiing and visiting casinos. In his later years he especially liked to read and watch TV. Bob was a life-long Lutheran and going to church was very important to him. During his 27 years in Los Banos, he served St. John's Lutheran Church in many capacities, with a willing heart and a smile. Bob was easy-going, witty and a story-teller.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, sons John (Teresa), Gregg (Aubrey), granddaughters Morgan and Taylor, brother Allen (Libby) and many extended family members.
A private family service will be held at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park in Sebastopol, CA. Memorial contributions in Bob's honor may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 7607 Garden Gate Dr., Citrus Heights, CA 95621.
