Robert (Bob) Arthur Newhall, born March 2, 1927, in Santa Cruz, California, passed away on October 1, 2024 at the age of 97. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, Bob lived a life full of love, adventure, and accomplishment.

Bob graduated from Santa Cruz High School with the Class of 1946 before serving his country in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge in 1947, he relocated to Sacramento, CA, where he met and married his first wife, Dorothy Rose Newhall, in 1948. Together, they welcomed three wonderful children: Allen Eugene Newhall, Carol Kathleen Newhall, and Nancy Ann Newhall. In 1952, after earning his college certification for Engineering with a focus on Plumbing and obtaining his California Plumbing Contractor License, Bob and his family moved to Saratoga, CA, where he founded the Campbell Plumbing Company. His successful business flourished until his retirement in 1986.

While raising their children, Bob and Dorothy enjoyed family vacations filled with camping and waterskiing adventures throughout California. After 23 years of marriage, Bob and Dorothy divorced. In 1972, Bob found love again, marrying Lorraine Barbara in Reno, NV. This union expanded his family with Lorraine’s four sons: Bill, Monty, Steve, and Stan Evert.

Thanks to the success of Campbell Plumbing Inc., Bob and Lorraine moved to Los Gatos, CA, where they proudly owned a home at La Rinconada Country Club. Bob could often be found enjoying a round of golf on the back nine during his time there. After retiring, Bob and Lorraine relocated to Lake Wildwood in Penn Valley, CA, where he fully embraced his love of boating and the beauty of lakeside living. Later, they relocated to Yuba City, CA, where they lived in a beautiful English tudor home, enjoying a slower pace of life. In the fall of 1993, Bob and Lorraine moved back to San Jose, CA, to be closer to family, settling into The Villages Golf and Country Club. There, he immersed himself in the vibrant community, enjoying golf, swimming, bocce ball, and Mexican dominoes.

After Lorraine passed away in 2008, Bob continued to enjoy life’s simple pleasures with the support of his family. Though deeply affected by the loss of his wife, it was his surviving children, Al and Carol, and their spouses, Jacqui and Darwin who kept his spirits high, ensuring that he remained active and happy in his later years.

Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ann Newhall, and is survived by his two remaining children, Carol Kathleen Jinks and Allen Eugene Newhall; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and his four stepsons Bill, Monty, Steve and Stan along with their families, including 7 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

Bob’s legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family will forever be cherished. He will be remembered fondly for his warmth, charisma, adventurous spirit, and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at Al and Jacqui Newhall’s home to celebrate Robert (Bob’s) remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robert’s honor to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). Rest in peace, Dad. Love you Grandpa. You will be dearly missed.
