Robert Eugene McBride, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Eugene McBride, Jr. on May 18, 2022.  Bob was the name most people knew him by, but he was known to his family as Buddy.

Bob was born on March 8, 1945, to Phyllis and Robert McBride in Oakland, California, where he was raised.  After attending Fremont High School, Bob joined the Marine Corps.  In 1965 after being honorably discharged, Bob went on to work for Pacific Gas and Electric Co.  This began a career that spanned 38 years. Bob was based in Hayward, California, for 25 years, then moved to Northern California where he resided in Quincy, Paradise and later retired in Chico, California.  Bob climbed the ranks in the Line Department becoming a Groundman, Apprentice, Lineman, Electric Crew Foreman and retired as a Troubleman in 2003.

Bob married his High School sweetheart, Harriet Joaquin, in 1966 and they started their family in Castro Valley, California.  Here Bob became active in the community. You could find him at swim meets, track meets, and soccer games.  He coached and played league softball.  Bob shared adventures in Indian Guides with his son.  He participated in church functions at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Castro Valley, California, where he would attend church on Sundays unless, of course, the Raiders were playing.  Bob was a die-hard Raider fan and was a season ticket holder back in the 1960s.

Bob was “happy-go-lucky” and a loving Father and Grandfather who enjoyed spending quality time with his family.  Bob will be missed immensely, but never forgotten.  His legacy will live on for generations.

Robert E. McBride is survived by his son, Michael, grandchildren Dylan, Landon and Fallon, his daughter-in-law, Alexis, his sister, Katherine and his brothers Kelley and Sean.

A Celebration of Life for Bob is scheduled for Sunday, July 17th, 2022.  If you would like to receive information for this event, please send your contact information to Michael McBride @ 530-362-2433 or mcbridemike13@yahoo.com.
