Richard William Conine-Schultz

November 30, 1935 — November 29, 2013

Born November 30th, 1935 in Santa Monica, California. Died in the arms of his loving wife on November 29th, 2013 at the age of 77.

A United States Air Force officer of 20 years and a professional pilot, Captain (ret.) Richard William Schultz began his military career in 1955 as an Airborne Radar Technician at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi where he also took great pride in his membership in the nationally recognized and highly regarded Keesler Male Chorus. Richard continued his service as a radar technician at Patrick AFB as a crewman on the last active duty variant of the B17 Flying Fortress, the PB-1W and he later transitioned to the EC-121 Warning Star as a member of the 552d Airborne Early Warning and Control Wing at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento. Richard completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Sacramento State College and received his USAF commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1972. Assigned to the Mather AFB Hospital as a pediatric nurse, Richard met and went on to marry the love of his life, Shirley St.Louis, who also retired as an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. Retiring from the Air Force in 1975, Richard was able to pursue his life's dream as a commercial pilot, Flight Instructor, and lifetime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Richard's passion for aviation ultimately led to his selection as the Curator of the March Air Force Base Museum. Richard ended his years as resident of Sun City, Lincoln Hills and an active member of the Lincoln Hills Veterans Group (past President), the RV group, and the Travel group.

Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley; his four children from his former marriage; Sharon, Melanie, Annette, and Richard; two sisters, Gloria and Jana; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
