Raymond Blake Bell

Raymond Blake Bell, affectionately known as Ray, was born on January 9, 1950, in Pocatello Idaho, to his loving parents Earl Lee Bell and Barbara Blake Bell. He peacefully departed from this world on August 6, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his family, in Roseville California.

Ray's journey through life was marked by the connections he made with lifelong friends. He graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1968 before embarking on an academic pursuit that led him to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in 1973 (GO DUCKS!).

Growing up in Southern California, he was deeply involved in the YMCA. In the summer of 1970, along with 26 others he travelled throughout England and Western Europe.  Within this group many more lifelong connections were made.  A memorable reunion of this group was held in Bend Oregon in 2017, where we also viewed the solar eclipse.

He lived in Lincoln City, Oregon for more than 30 years. He moved to Lodi, California to live with his sister Cindy and her family in 2013.  We moved to Roseville, California in 2017.

A man with an unforgettable sense of humor, Ray's presence lit up every room he entered. His contagious laughter and gregarious nature endeared him to many, making him a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ray's magnetic personality cultivated lasting connections and left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Ray had profound joy in his hobbies and interests. An avid LA Dodgers fan, his love for the team ran deep, a sentiment rooted in his cherished memories of attending games with his father while growing up in Los Angeles County. Ray's passion for sports extended to his alma mater, the University of Oregon, where he faithfully followed their collegiate sports, particularly football (GO DUCKS!).

Ray's love for his family was unwavering. In his final days, he was surrounded by his beloved children: Brandon, Christopher, and Amanda; his sister Cynthia; his sister-in-law Katie; and his dear niece Jessica and nephews Joshua, Jordon, and Aaron. Ray's grandchildren and great grandson as well as sister Denise, along with his brother-in-law Tom Clark, and nieces Lisa, Jenni Lynn; brother-in-law Hobart Vogel; brother David along with his sister-in-law Sylvia and nephew Eric; and cousins Sally, Marjie, Gretchen, Susy, Ernie Joe, Pam, Bill and Bonnie shared a bond with him that transcended time and distance.

Despite the challenges he faced, Ray found peace in the company of his family before he passed away. His battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer was brief, without pain, and endured with courage and grace.

Ray leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and genuine spirit, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled.

In honoring the life of Raymond Blake Bell, we celebrate a man whose light will continue to shine brightly even in his absence. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss. Ray's journey may have reached its earthly conclusion, but his spirit will live on eternally in the hearts of those who loved him.
