RANDY'S LIFE STORY

Randolph "Randy" Ferry, 87 years old, of Sacramento, California, passed away on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. He was born on January 29th,1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is the son of John Houston Ferry and Lula Mae (Poisseau) Ferry.

Randolph graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1954 at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Air Force, reporting to boot camp in Amarillo, Texas. His training was also in Texas where he was prepared to work on B-47 airplanes. After serving 20 years of active duty as an aircraft mechanic, he retired as a Master Sergeant. During his active duty, he served two tours in England, as well as tours in Spain, Thailand, Guam and Africa.

In 1954, after completing boot camp and his schooling, he moved to Salina, Kansas. There he met Wanda "Dolly'' Ferry. They were married in Salina, Kansas, on May 22, 1955. They have been married for 66½ years and have six children together.

Randolph put in for a transfer to California and was transferred to Beale Air Force Base in Beale, California, and then received his orders to go to Thailand for one year. After returning from Thailand in 1964, he was transferred to Mather Air Force Base in Rancho Cordova, California. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 at Mather Air Force Base.

Randolph continued his journey in Civil Service as an Aircraft Mechanic at McClellan Air Force Base in North Highlands, California. He retired from McClellan Air Force Base after completing 21 years of service. He then became a self-employed Amsoil Dealer for over 20 years providing Amsoil products for his customers. He was generously helpful in getting his customers what they needed and he always gave a few bonus items with each sale. He also provided knowledge of the Amsoil products in full detail.

Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were painting, listening to music, and playing his guitar. Music was his heart. He also enjoyed watching motorcycle and car racing. He started racing motorcycles at the age of 12 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He also liked to do woodworking, and he was an all-around handyman.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 66½ years Wanda "Dolly" Ferry. His six children – Randy "Chip" Ferry, Krista Smith (Gary), Steven Ferry, Mark Ferry, Lisa Ferry-Hearn (Eric), Michelle Ferry (Leon Brown). His four grandchildren, Rob Ditter, Jerry Hughes, Randy Hughes and Jada Brown. His four great grandchildren Jackson Smith, Asher Hughes, Samantha Ditter, and Stephanie Ditter. He is also survived by a host of relatives, nieces and nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Houston Ferry, his mother, Lula Mae (Poisseau) Ferry, two Brothers: John "Bubba" Ferry and Barry Ferry, and one Sister: Gladis Hill.
