Norman Clyde Lawson
March 31, 1938 — February 1, 2017
Norm's first job was delivering newspapers in his bicycle at 8 years of age in Hollywood, CA
After graduating from high school at age 17 he joined the United States Army and served 4 years. Part of that time was spent in Japan and Korea
His career was in the grocery business and he never forgot a person's name. He was an expert salesman and progressed up the ladder to become a Vice President of Dryer's Grand Ice Cream. His real gifts were not so much making money but making friends and giving money away. That is one of the reasons he retired from Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream at age 54. They could not understand why he wanted to retire so soon. He told them that he wanted to enjoy life with his wife Phyllis and be with the people he loved.
He rarely missed a Sunday at church, he was always out there greeting people and giving them coffee and donuts. This made everyone feel loved and welcomed. As we grew older Auburn Grace Community Church in Auburn became our church family. It was here at Community Presbyterian Church their daughter Lori's memorial service was held 34 years ago.
Norm had beautiful memories of Life and God's love.
I John 4:12 says.."If we love each other, God lives in us and through us."
I believe this was Norm's journey in life
