Our beloved Naranjan Kaur Dhillon, affectionately known as Bibi, age 97, went home to God (Guru Nanak Dev Ji) on September 24, 2025. She was born on November 26, 1927, in a small village of Bainstani, Punjab, India, to Piara Singh who was a serviceman in the Indian Army and Inder Kaur Bains who was a homemaker. Raised in a deeply spiritual Sikh family, she was given a foundation of love, strength, and faith that shaped her entire life. Though girls in her village were not allowed formal schooling, her father hired a teacher to teach her at home. Through this opportunity, Bibi learned to read and write Punjabi fluently, opening a lifelong love of learning. She was deeply curious about the human body and health. One day her father came across a book on this topic and bought it for her. She read it in its entirety so she could help others in her village and nearby villages. Through her knowledge, she helped countless people with sprained ankles and even getting pregnant.
Bibi’s devotion to her faith was unwavering. She read the entire Guru Granth Sahib and shared her vast knowledge of Sikhism generously with her children and grandchildren.
In 1946, she married the love of her life, Resham Singh Dhillon (Bapu), in her home village of Bains Kalan, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab. They shared a beautiful marriage until his passing in 1982 in Live Oak, California. They had five beautiful children, two sons Kirpal Singh Dhillon and Manjit Singh Dhillon and three daughters Kulwinder Kaur Gadri, Sukhwinder Kaur Dhoot, and Parminder Kalkat Strebe. After Bapu Ji’s passing, Bibi lived with her son, Manjit Singh Dhillon, and his family for several decades, and in her later years resided with her youngest daughter, Parminder Dhillon Strebe, and her husband, Scott Strebe. Bibi's family in Visalia, California, (Parminder's children and Bibi's eldest daughter Kulwinder Gadr and her family) made her journey on this planet pleasant by giving her care and experiences when she stayed with them to provide assistance to Parminder and Scott Strebe.
She is survived by her three daughters:Kulwinder Gadri and her husband Kulwant Gadri of Visalia, California; Sukhwinder of Vancouver, Washington; and Parminder Strebe and her husband Scott Strebe of Lincoln, California. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her love and wisdom. On September 24, 2025, Bibi passed peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family—the very wish she had carried in her heart.
We will miss her deeply, but we are grateful to God for blessing her with a long, meaningful life and granting her a gentle passing. Her love, guidance, and prayers will remain with us always.
