Monique Jeanne Guerre, was born in the town of Saint-Valery-Sur-Somme, France on the 13th of January 1938 to Henriette Fallieres and Joseph Lang. She was the oldest daughter of four children. Monique graced the lives of many until her passing at the age of 86 on the 13th of December 2024 in Rocklin, California.

At around the age of sixteen, Monique traveled by ship through the Panama Canal with her mother and two of her siblings, John and Andrée, for the US, where they settled in San Francisco, California to live withtheir grandmother. Her older brother Louis joined them later after finishing his tour of duty with the army.

Monique met Michel Guerre in San Francisco, where they dated and finally wed in Reno, NV on April 28, 1958. They settled in a small apartment in San Francisco, where they had their first daughter, Viviane. In 1964 they moved to San Carlos after the birth of their second daughter Joëlle. In 1971, with the birth of their son Michael they finally completed their family. In 1974 they moved to Redwood City and settled there until they both semi-retired in Twain Harte, CA. After the passing of their son, they moved back to Redwood City in 1989. A few years after the passing of her husband, Michel Guerre, she met and married Jean Claude Mallein, after her divorce she moved to Grass Valley, where she lived until moving to Rocklin, CA after her stroke.

Monique worked at Farinon Electronics and Loreal (Ford Aerospace) for quite a few years while raising her family. Monique and her husband were a big part of the French Community. They belonged to many French clubs and took part in many activities. You could always find Monique at picnics in Redwood City, Petaluma and other cities enjoying food and pétanque with her friends. She attended numerous banquets in San Francisco where she loved to dance. 

Monique also loved the outdoors; she enjoyed camping at San Jose Family Camp with her family and friends and going to the “Duck Club” in Merced with other families. Where she made many lasting memories.

A woman of many talents, Monique found joy in hobbies that reflected her nurturing essence. She spent hours sewing, knitting, and engaging in needlepoint. She loved making her dresses for the many functions she attended and for her two daughters. She also had a passion for reading, she would read anything she could find. Monique also had a special gift for entertaining, filling her home with laughter and delight.

Monique exemplified kindness and generosity that resonated deeply within her community. With a spirit that was both loving and welcoming, she embraced everyone she met, offering unconditional love to all. Her beauty was not just skin deep; it blossomed from within, illuminating the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Viviane Baker and Joëlle Burg, along with her devoted son-in-law Jim Baker and Joelle’s fiancé Alain Canabou. The warmth of her spirit continues to thrive in her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Crockett, who is married to Justin Crockett, and Michelle Baker. Monique’s legacy extends further with the joyful arrival of her great grandchildren, Delanie and Hayden Crockett, who were bright lights in her life. Additionally, Monique is survived by her sister Andrée Leal and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

In remembrance of those who have gone before her, Monique reunites with her late husband, Michel Guerre, her son Michael Guerre, son-in-law Andy Burg and her brothers, John Lang, and Louis Lang. Their memories are still forever etched in the hearts of those they touched.

As we celebrate Monique’s life, we are reminded of her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. Her gentle soul will forever be missed, yet her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, lighting their paths with memories of her kindness, beauty, and the unconditional love she so generously shared.
