Mitzi Spatz, a loving wife and mother, passed away on September 2, 2024, in Granite Bay, California, at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. Born on February 5, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she navigated life with a spirit that touched everyone who crossed her path.
Mitzi spent a significant portion of her professional life with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, where she retired after years of dedicated service. Beyond her professional contributions, Mitzi was known for her creative spirit. She found joy in painting with her daughter, Cheryl, a cherished activity for them both. She also enjoyed wine tasting adventures with her husband, Keith, where they explored new flavors and shared laughter. She had a love for reading cozy mysteries and possessed an interest in crystals and gemstones, eagerly absorbing information about their properties and lore. Mitzi also valued her social connections and enjoyed spending time and playing games with her church family, where her warmth and spirit endeared her to those around her.
She also had a love for nature and the environment, leading her to choose a green burial. Mitzi was buried in a wicker casket next to an oak tree on her (and Keith's) plot, symbolizing her connection to the earth and her desire to nurture life even in her passing.
Mitzi is survived by her beloved husband, Keith; her daughter, Cheryl; her mother, Nancy; as well as her brothers, sisters, and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her father and her parents-in-law.
Her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of her family and friends who will carry her spirit forward. Mitzi’s presence will be profoundly missed, and her impact on those around her will be cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and caregivers with Kaiser and A Better Living for their compassionate care and unfailing kindness.
Mitzi is interred at the Morgan Oaks Eternal Preserve in Lincoln, CA.
