Michael Z. Hunter passed away on August 12,2024 after a courages battle with stage 4 cancer. Surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Michael was born on May 31, 1978 in San Jose, Ca to his mother Yolonda C. Hunter and Father Ronald Craig Hunter and was the oldest brother to Jessica Hunter. Michael was more commonly known to his friends and family as ‘ Big Mike’ or ‘Uncle Mike’. Michael was a simple man, a man of God and a hard worker and a protector. He had a contagious laugh that could fill a whole room up. When Michael wasn’t fishing or telling great stories he loved spending time with his family. Married to wife Julie Hunter of 25 years and the father to three beautiful children, Jocelyn (25) Alina (24) and Michael Jr. (19). Michael had many hobbies, he loved his cigar collection, guns, TV time and fishing. He loved all genres of music but his favorites include Sunday night oldies and Bob Marley. “One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.” this is a quote from Bob Marley’s famously known song Trenchtown Rock, music was healing for Michael and got our family through hardships.
Michael lived a beautiful life full of love and countless good memories. He is now reunited with loved ones who have passed on, father Ronald Hunter, his grandparents Guadalupe and Jessie Castro and his Godmother Natalia Castro, Aunt Rosie & Uncle Stevie. Until we meet again. I know he’s on the beach somewhere waiting to tell us stories with his witty funny self.
