Melody Kirchner was a light and a joy to those blessed to cross her path, whether in her role as teacher, colleague, or friend. She fiercely loved her two children, her four grandchildren, and especially her husband of almost 53 years, Randal Kirchner. Melody's faith--in the Lord, in a good long chat, in beautifully coiffed hair--was strong and unwavering. She died on April 18, 2021 and now resides in peace in His eternal home. She will be so very missed.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Wayne and Inez Berry on August 19, 1946, and grew up in Oklahoma City along with her older brother Dennis and younger sister Angela. She attended the University of Oklahoma, which always held a special place in her heart, and is where she met the love of her life, Randy. They married shortly after graduation and began a life of military service in the Air Force. Together they had two children, Kristine and Kevin, and made a home wherever the Air Force took them, from Florida to California and places in between. Along the way, Melody's love of children, learning, and creativity manifested in a successful career as an elementary school teacher, which was one of her greatest joys.
Melody was an avid reader (especially daily Scripture), an excellent cook, and a foodie before there was such a thing. She loved music, golfing with her husband, trips to Hawaii, and creating the safest and most loving space for her grandchildren. There is no place they love more than her family room floor.
Melody is survived by her husband Randy, her son Kevin, her daughter Kristine, and four grandchildren, as well as her brother Dennis and sister Angela. A funeral service is scheduled for 1pm on May 6, 2021 at Valley Springs Church in Roseville.
