She was wife to Carlos Palacios Jr., daughter to Bobby Jean and Gary Robert Worthington, "Mommy Issa" to Carlos Palacios III, Amanda Cruz and Dani Palacios. Sister to Tim, Tawny and Audra Worthington. Auntie to Danielle and Grandma to Kira Begeny. However, if you knew her one thing was for sure, she was your friend. Melissa was an avid reader who always enjoyed getting lost in a story or reading up on something new. She was deeply in touch with her heritage and genealogy and found she was related to Chief William Holland Thomas (2/5/1805 - 5/10/1893). Whatever she did, you were guaranteed she had a smile on her face, taking great pride and joy in everything she did. She was breathtakingly beautiful, inspiring, magnificent, wonderful, blessed, cheerful, sparkling like a diamond, talented and had a gift of high intellect. Melissa was a dedicated Air Force soldier, joining inactive status at age 17 and active at age 18 and an Air Force Reservist until she passed away on Saturday, 12/13/2014. It was a true blessing to see her work so hard and passionately with her military family. Melissa graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BS in Criminal Justice at the top of her class. She was a dedicated Payroll Analyst for several years and recent employee of The McClatchy Company. Melissa met the man of her dreams and soul mate Carlos Palacios Jr., they married and were blessed with their beautiful son, Carlos Palacios III. This proved that together all their dreams did come true. She was predeceased by sister Audra, aunts Betty Jo Brown, Brenda Bladeslee, uncles Jim and Martin Foster, Grandma Margie and Grandpa Theodore. Viewing will be held Sunday, December 21 from 4-6pm at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel in Rocklin, 6920 Destiny Dr. Mass will be held Monday, Dec. 22 at 10am at Divine Savior Catholic Church, 9079 Greenback Lane with burial services at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, 5810 Midway Road at 1:30pm.
