Mary Ellen Wilson

July 27, 1959 — April 8, 2016

Mary Ellen's journey began when she was born on July 27th,1959 in Redwood City, California. She was the biggest baby born that year weighing in at 11 pounds, 5 ounces. Mary Ellen was the eldest of three children. She had two younger brothers, James and Michael. As a young girl Mary Ellen had stunning blonde hair and was attracted to beautiful dresses, lace, and ribbons. She first attended Laurel Elementary School located in Sherman Oaks, California. She loved being around the other children, playing, and learning in school. As she got older her family moved to San Bruno, California. She then attended Hyde Middle School and after that, Cupertino High School in which she was always a straight A student. After high school she attended West Valley College in Saratoga, California in which she received an associate's degree in liberal arts. Over the span of the next 15 years she worked at Hewlett-Packard, FMC, and Loridan. Around 1991 Mary Ellen was living with her mother Marlyn, when she met Glenn Wilson. They made each other so happy and completed each other. On October 23rd,1993 they got married surrounded by friends and family. Glenn and Mary Ellen then purchased a home in Antelope, California in which they stayed in for several years. They then purchased their family home in Rocklin, California during the summer of 1996. One year later their eldest daughter Mikaela was born on August 14th,1997. They were so full of joy to be blessed with their first child. The following year their next daughter Terra was born on December 8th,1998. Mary Ellen knew before they found out their baby's gender that she was having another daughter. And lastly on April 6th,2000 they had their final daughter Trinity. All of her children brought so much happiness into her life. Mary Ellen loved being a mom to her three young daughters and always took the time to do their hair and dress them nicely. She took them on many play dates and on many adventures. The following years the family went on many trips to half moon bay and Seacliff, which were her favorite beaches, as well as Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. Mary Ellen was a devout Catholic and took her children to Saint Peter & Paul's Church in Rocklin every week for many years. Every summer she would enroll them in vacation bible school and always had them attend faith formation classes. In 2010, Mary Ellen was diagnosed with stage 3 metastasized colon cancer and had her first cancer surgery on September 23rd, 2010. The whole family was crushed by her diagnosis, but she would continue to fight her illness. Over the next six years she endured more surgeries, pinpoint radiation, chemotherapy, and countless other drugs. Even though she was sick, Mary Ellen spent a lot of time looking at houses and was very interested in the real estate market. Glenn and Mary Ellen wanted to purchase a new home and put in many offers over the course of several years. When the market was at its lowest point at the end of 2012, their bid was accepted on Mary Ellen's dream home in West Roseville. The family moved into the home early in 2013 where Mary Ellen would live out the rest of her years. During her journey with cancer, Mary Ellen searched everywhere for a cure. She was treated in San Francisco with one of the best doctors in the state. When her cancer became more aggressive she went for care at the Cancer Center of America in Zion, Illinois just outside of Chicago. Finally, she was treated in New York, where her and her husband Glenn spent time touring the city. In late 2015, she learned that she was going to be a grandmother to a little girl and she was so excited. On February 29th, 2016 she was told that she was in liver failure due to her cancer and had limited time left. Her husband Glenn took excellent care of her in the final days and ensured that she felt loved and was comfortable. On April 8th, 2016 around 2:20 pm she passed away surrounded by her family. Mary Ellen will be remembered as the kind, smart, strong and beautiful woman she was. She was loved and honored until her very last day.
