Mark Scott Messenger Sr. passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, Mark spent many years in San Jose, California before moving to Rocklin in 2023 to be closer to his beloved children and grandchildren.
Mark shared 42 wonderful years with his wife, Dora — 37 of them as husband and wife. Together they built a life full of laughter, love, and countless adventures.
Mark worked as a manager for Safeway for many years before transitioning into a successful 20-year career in real estate, eventually retiring to enjoy the fruits of his hard work. Known for his sharp wit and great sense of humor, Mark had a gift for bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him. He loved spending time with family, playing games, exploring new restaurants, and especially going on cruises — he and Dora had just returned from their 70th cruise days before his passing.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was immeasurable. He is predeceased by his parents, Roscoe and Kathryn, and his brother, Craig.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dora; his three children, Alison, Kathryn, and Mark Jr.; and his five cherished grandchildren — Shawn, James, Roxie, Kaylee, and Arianna — with another granddaughter expected in late October or early November.
Mark’s legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bridgeway Christian Church on Wednesday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Roseville District Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to Bridgeway Christian Church or Gigi's Playhouse Sacramento.
