Luis Hector Lluen nació el 10 de septiembre de 1949 en la ciudad de Lima, Perú de Armando y Rufina Lluen. Además de sus padres tenía 3 hermanos mayores: Chano, Raúl y Pedro.

Desde muy pequeño, a Luis le enseñaron el valor del trabajo. Comenzó con trabajos ocasionales y luego de graduarse de la escuela secundaria Nuestra Señora Guadalupe en Lima, comenzó a trabajar como vendedor. Esta experiencia laboral más tarde lo ayudó a conseguir un trabajo en un banco.

Fue en esa época que conoció y se interesó por Maggie Alvarez. Siempre estaba buscando una oportunidad para cortejar a Maggie. En una ocasión, Maggie estaba tomando una clase de contabilidad y necesitaba ayuda con una tarea en particular. Pensó en Luis como la persona perfecta para ayudarla con esta difícil tarea, ya que él trabajaba en un banco. Entonces, Maggie fue al trabajo de Luis y le pidió ayuda con su tarea. Luis vio esto como una oportunidad para al menos tratar de tener una cita con ella. Al día siguiente, Maggie entrega su tarea y termina descubriendo que la tarea se hizo completamente mal y obtuvo un cero en su tarea. Estaba bastante molesta y fue al trabajo de mi Luis y se quejó de lo horrible que fue el trabajo que hizo al darle clases particulares. Como un vendedor, después de innumerables rechazos y negativas de Maggie, se la ganó y comenzaron a salir. Se casaron el 11 de febrero de 1978.

Luis siempre hizo de su familia una prioridad y decidió llevar a Maggie ya su hijo Franco de dos años a los Estados Unidos. No aprovechó la oportunidad de inmediato. En Perú, Luis se sentía cómodo con un trabajo bueno y estable como banquero. Sin embargo, al pensar en lo que era mejor para su familia, decidió aprovechar esta oportunidad de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en 1980.

Primero vivió en Sunnyvale, California durante unos tres años. Durante este tiempo, Luis trabajó en Idlewood Assisted Living como lavaplatos. Trabajó allí durante algunos años y continuó realizando trabajos ocasionales como: una pizzería, repartidor de comida china y una línea de montaje que fabricaba balanzas digitales. Eventualmente, encontró un trabajo estable trabajando para Amersham, una compañía farmacéutica, que fabricaba medicina nuclear. La empresa cambió de propietario/nombre dos veces, pero él continuó trabajando allí hasta julio de 2021, cuando se enfermó.

Luego se mudó con su familia de tres niños a una casa en Mountain View y luego se mudó a Lincoln, CA en 2002. Estaba muy orgulloso de su familia de tres niños, Franco, Bryan y Danny. Sus hijos pudieron darle nueve maravillosos nietos a quienes amaba incondicionalmente. Era conocido por darles dinero y malcriarlos. Luis era un hombre conocido por abrir su casa a cualquiera que necesitara un lugar donde quedarse. Era conocido por su naturaleza pacífica y su gran sentido del humor. Le encantaba hacer barbacoas en su patio trasero y bailar con su familia. Era confiable y trabajador y ayudaría a Maggie con su negocio de limpieza después de que terminara su turno de noche. Fue un miembro sólido de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días y sirvió en muchos llamamientos, desde líder de guardería hasta miembro del obispado. Se aseguró de que su familia inculcara el evangelio en sus propias familias.

Luis peleó su batalla contra el cáncer con fuerza y ​​humor. Siempre tendrá un impacto duradero en todos los que lo conocieron. Le sobreviven un hermano, tres hijos y nueve nietos.

Luis Hector Lluen was born on September 10^th, 1949, in the city of Lima, Peru to Armando and Rufina Lluen. In addition to his parents he had 3 older brothers: Chano, Raul and Pedro.

At a very young age, Luis  was taught the value of work. He started off working odd jobs then after graduating from Nuestra Señora Guadalupe High School in Lima, he started working as a salesman. This work experience later helped him land a job at a bank.

It was around that time that he met and had an interest in Maggie Alvarez. He was always looking for an opportunity to woo Maggie. On one occasion, Maggie was taking an accounting class and she needed help with a particular assignment. She thought of Luis as the perfect person to help her out with this difficult homework, since he worked at a bank. So, Maggie went to Luis’s work and asked him for some help with her homework.  Luis saw this as an opportunity to at least try to go on one date with her. The next day, Maggie turns in her assignment and she ends up finding out that the assignment was done completely wrong, and she got a zero on her assignment. She was pretty upset and went to my Luis’s work and complained to him how horrible of a job he did at tutoring her. Like a salesperson, after countless rejections and no’s from Maggie, he won her over and they started dating. They married on February 11^th, 1978.

Luis always made his family a priority and decided to take Maggie and his two year old son Franco to the United states. He did not jump at the opportunity right away. In Peru, Luis was comfortable with a good, stable job as a banker. However, in thinking about what was best for his family, he decided to pursue this opportunity to migrate to the United States in 1980.

He first lived in Sunnyvale, California for around three years. During this time Luis worked at Idlewood Assisted Living as a dishwasher. He worked there for a few years and continued to pick-up odd jobs such as: a pizza place, delivering Chinese food, and an assembly line making digital scales. Eventually, he found a steady job working for Amersham, a pharmaceutical company, making nuclear medicine. The company changed ownership/names two times but he continued to work there until July of 2021, when he became sick.

He then moved his family of three boys to a house in Mountain View and then moved to Lincoln, CA in 2002. He was very proud of his family of three boys, Franco, Bryan and Danny. His sons were able to give him nine amazing grandchildren who he loved unconditionally. He was known to give them money and spoil them.  Luis was a man known for opening his home to anyone who needed a place to stay.  He was known for his peaceful nature and his great sense of humor.  He loved to BBQ in his backyard and dance with his family. He was dependable and a hard worker and would help Maggie with her cleaning business after he got done with his night shift.  He was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings from Nursery leader to Bishopric Member. He made sure his family instilled the gospel in their own families. 

Luis fought his cancer battle with strength and humor.  He will always have a lasting impact on every who met him. He is survived by one brother, three children and nine grandchildren.
