Lisa Marie Filippi Wheeler, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and beloved member of her community, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 56, due to complications from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Epilepsy. Her strength and grace in the face of these challenges remain a testament to the incredible woman she was.
Born on November 26, 1967, Lisa grew up with a deep love for her family and a strong belief in God. She the daughter of Jim Filippi and Noreen Pelton, and sister to Susan Moody and James Filippi, with whom she grew up with the values of faith and dedication to those she loved. Lisa was the soulmate and love of Gene Wheeler’s life. Together, they shared a love that transcended time, and they stood by each other’s side through every hardship and triumph. Their bond was unbreakable, built on deep respect, affection, and unwavering devotion.
As a mother, Lisa was fiercely protective, earning the title of “Mama Bear” from her children and many in the Rocklin community. Her children: Lucas, Zachary, Nicholas, Gabriella, Cole, and Dakota were her heart and soul. Family always came first for Lisa, and she guided her children with a blend of gentle care and strength (bear strength).
A pillar of the Rocklin community, Lisa was affectionately known as “Rocklin’s Mama Bear.” She was a friend to all, a comforting presence, and someone who welcomed others with an open heart. Her faithfulness, kindness, and generous spirit touched many lives, and she was truly a community icon.
Though she suffered from the effects of her condition, Lisa’s resilience was nothing short of inspiring. She lived her life with grace and courage, always placing the needs of her family and friends above her own struggles.
Lisa’s legacy of love, faith, and unwavering commitment to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Clubhouse at Woodcreek in Roseville CA on Sunday, October 27th starting at 10am, and her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in remembrance.
Rest in peace, Lisa. You will be forever missed and always remembered for your love, strength, and devotion to your family and community.
If it’s in your heart, donations in her memory can support her daughter Gabriella’s medical treatment for the same condition.
