Leonard James Rash

August 31, 1927 — May 26, 2015

Leonard James "Bud" Rash. Devoted husband of 61 years to Helen, wonderful father to Kevin, Kym and Kristin, beloved grandfather to Alicia, Brad, Kaylyn, Nathan, Heidi and Anya, and sweet great grandfather to Roxas.
Dad was born on August 31, 1927 and grew up in Wenatchee, WA on an apple orchard with his brother, Doug and 2 sisters, Ruth and Beth. He served a brief time in the service during the Korean War. He and Helen Hoover met at Seattle Pacific University and married in 1953 and settled in Seattle. After Kevin was born and Mom was pregnant with Kym, they moved back to Mom's hometown of Sacramento. Kristin was born 3 years later.
Dad was a banker who spent the majority of his career at Great Western Savings and later Sacramento Savings. A long time member of the Sacramento Free Methodist Church, he taught Sunday School, lead Bible Study, and was an involved layman leader for many years.
First and foremost in his life was his love for Jesus. His family, whom he adored, followed close behind. He was a positive, happy dad, and loved and respected by those who knew him. Family vacations to Washington to see relatives and friends were something he and the family looked forward to every summer.
Dad's greatest joy in life was getting together with his family. He had a tender heart and rarely missed the opportunity to tell us that he loved us and that his family meant everything to him. He was a devoted grandfather and loved to go to his grandkids' sports activities, concerts or performances. He beamed with pride to think that this wonderful extended family all started with he and mom falling in love.
When they retired, Dad and Mom had a great time traveling the world with their dear friends Bud and Ruth Hansen from Seattle. After retirement, Dad would comment that he wondered how he had ever found the time to work.
Dad's selflessness and love for Jesus and other people were a true example for his family. And his devotion to Mom just strengthened as the years went by.
Dad, we love and miss you so much and we so look forward to spending eternity with you and Jesus in heaven.
