Larry Rue Morrison

It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Rue Morrison announce his passing on November 1, 2024 in Lincoln, California.

Beloved and cherished father of Corrie, Jeremy, Natalie, Samuel, Heather and Joseph; father-in-law of Matthew, Madhuri and Tom; wonderful grandpa to Kailey, Devon, Vai, Landon, Amelia, Ashika and Aavya; Great grandfather to Josie and Jace; brother of Julia, Bill and Bill’s wife Carole, Cliff and Cliff’s wife Eva, Rhonda and Rhonda’s husband Joe.

Survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friend and family member, Anita. Preceded in death by cherished daughter, Corrie, mother and father Elmira and Clifford, brother-in-law Steven and friend Jason. While born in Stockton, California, Larry spent most of his life in Roseville, California.

As a young man, Larry served in the US Army as a Combat Veteran Artillery Specialist, 5th class, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Larry spent numerous years working in the automotive industry and expressed great joy in ending his many years of employment driving a local school bus for special needs children. Larry was an inspiration to many through his extensive running achievements, which included the completion of many notable races such as The Boston Marathon (where he placed 118th out of 26,000 runners), The Big Sur Marathon (his favorite), several 50K/50 Mile races and the infamous Western States 100 Mile Race (twice).

Larry was a devout lover of God and expressed this through his love and kindness to all those around him. He was a bright light that will be greatly missed.

While Larry will be laid to rest in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery privately on December 6th, 2024, family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Oaks Funeral Home at 6920 Destiny Dr, Rocklin, CA 95677.
