K. Richard Johnson

Reverend K. Richard Johnson (Johnny) was born in Dowagiac, Michigan to Myers and Helma Johnson in 1932. He was the youngest of 7 children and lived on an farm. Myers was born in Norway and Helma in Minnesota to an immigrant family from Norway.

Johnny did not grow up in a Christian home but accepted the Lord as a pre-teen. His parents later also accepted the Lord. (He had the privilege of baptizing them when they were in their eighties). He attended Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music where he sang tenor in a traveling ensemble and did his pastoral studies. Over the next 60 years he pastored churches in Maple Grove and Batavia, Michigan, and Paso Robles, Paradise, Salinas, Groveland and Sacramento, California. He was also a hospital Chaplain with Kaiser for almost 10 years. He loved to share the news of God's love. Next to preaching and sharing God's word, his favorite things to do were play with his family, laugh and sing, hunt and fish, and work with his hands to build things.

The best decision of his life (next to accepting Christ) was marrying Joyce Elaine Murray of Lansing, Michigan almost 63 years ago on June 25, 1955. After hearing her pray at church he knew he had to meet her. What an amazing example of love and devotion they have been. They had three children; Michael, Steve (wife Lori) and Kristen (husband Tim). He cherished his family, those born into it and married into it. He was an amazing father. He adored his 8 grandchildren and their spouses and his 6 great-grand children and they adore him: Hannah Nachelle Johnson, Karissa Nicole Johnson-Wing (husband Bobby, Carter and Aubree), Brittney Chanel Johnson-Molina (husband Ricky, Lucas and Elijah), Hollie Brooke Johnson, Sally Nicolle Brewer-Kidalov (Husband Max), Heidi Nichelle Brewer-Khoshsefat (husband Joshua, Ella and Emerson), Andrew Paul Brewer and Benjamin John Brewer. Johnny has one brother still living and nieces and nephews who he loved very much. Honey, Dad, Papa, brother, uncle you are greatly loved and missed.
