Judith died on September 14, 2014, at the age of 70. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Harley and Anna Marie Priesmeyer. In 1969, she married Larry Grossheim, who preceded her in death in 2005. Their marriage was blessed with two devoted daughters.
Her father was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnamese War. As a child in a military family, Judith lived in many States and Countries, namely, the Philippines, Florida, Texas, Germany and California, before she graduated from high school. This experience likely contributed to her zest for new challenges and her confidence in meeting them. She was a home improvement enthusiast: her daughters particularly recall her replacing tile in the kitchen, installing bathroom fixtures, and landscaping several homes. After more than 30 years of working for Kaiser Permanente, Judith retired in 2007 as a Senior Telecom Analyst. Her retirement years were spent on a new craft—painting—and traveling throughout California, the Oregon Coast, and Washington State, and visiting family in Texas. She also enjoyed testing her luck at casinos. She was so very proud of her grandchildren and loved the moments they shared together. Most recently, she helped Sarah paint her bedroom and was looking forward to a trip to see Kelli, Victor and Zachary.
Judith is survived by her loving daughters, Michelle Nevins and Kelli (Victor) Giles; grandchildren, Sarah Nevins and Zachary Giles; brothers, Harley Priesmeyer and Michael Priesmeyer; and Dennis Hack, her companion in retirement. Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 23, at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6920 Destiny Drive, Rocklin, CA. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate in Judith's memory to the Del Oro Caregiver Resources Center, 8421 Auburn Blvd., Suite 120, Citrus Heights, CA 95610.
