John Boyd Rhoads

John Boyd Rhoads of Elverta, California passed away March 12, 2026 in Newcastle, California after a two year health battle. 

He graduated from Highlands High School in 1961. Boyd has been an early member of the Cherrieters car club. He participated in several classic car shows with his '64 Tbird. He was an active member of the Lions club of Rio Linda in the 80's & 90's. 

He was born Dos Palos, California in 1943 and spent his younger years living in Penryn before moving to Elverta into the house his father built. Boyd, with his family, would live in that same house until three years ago.

As a teenager he worked at Donsing Ranch. He would then go on to working in construction building apartments, luxury homes, hotels and Tower Records across the country. Boyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fran (Nebel) Rhoads. His daughters, LeeAnna Bomgardner and Kim Rogers and their spouses, Kurtis and Bob. His grandchildren Nick Rhoads-Romero, Emily Anne Guerrero, Emily Deann Bomgardner and Jordan Chamberlin. His great-grandchildren Annelise, Lewis and Benjamin. He is preceded by his grandson Zachary Rogers, his parents, two sisters, one brother and too many friends. 

Celebration of his life will take place Saturday March 28……………………………. All are welcome.
