John Joseph (Joe) Madigan passed away on November 29, 2017 after an unexpected illness.
Born July 7, 1935 in San Francisco and lived all of his early childhood life in Crescent Mills, CA. He was active in all sports and loved them. He played trombone in the band and loved music. His family had a small band and played for various events in the valley.
Joe loved the ranch life as also his sister, Lynne...they bayled hay, fed animals and worked hard.
Their family went over the hill to St. Anthony's church sometimes in snow....His mom played the organ and Joe was an altar boy as he got older. His sister, Roseanne sang beautifully. Kelly was a kid so went too.
He went to Yuba College and graduated from San Francisco State and played football there also.
Joined the Army and played trombone in the Army band.
First teaching job in Concord, CA - then got married to Doris Martin from Sacramento. After 6 years of marriage moved to old ranch site in Crescent Mills and built a home in the same style of his Grandfather's home....it was a lifelong dream of his.
He taught and coached all sports at Greenville H.S. and Chester H.S. He also taught for his total career driver training 40 years and no accidents. Amazing for sure!
Then after retiring from Plumas Schools moved to Sacramento area. He did drive big rigs for 7 years over the road with various companies.
We had many pets and Joe would say they are "our children". His last and most beloved one was Zoya...she kept him going and he loved their walks every day to the local CVS.
During Joe's short illness Doris and his family stood by him especially Lynne. His brother Kelly came over a few times from Nevada and they had some wonderful talks. His sister, Roseanne from Kentucky called and kept him in prayer all the time.
Joe is survived by wife, Doris, sister, Lynne Ladd, brother Kelly (Vicki) Madigan and nieces and nephew. Also Godson Gary Jr. (Theresa), Goddaughter, Gina Holbrook (Brian).
