John Franklin Chisholm, a beloved husband, father, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully at Sunrise of Rocklin on July 8, 2024. He was born in Medford, OR on July 11, 1940.
John led a remarkable career as a mainframe systems manager for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 32 years in Fremont, CA, witnessing the evolution of computer systems that guide and track aircraft in the Oakland ARTCC region. His expertise and commitment left an indelible mark on the aviation industry.
While John's professional accomplishments were significant, his true joy stemmed from his family and community. He was a devoted husband to Catherine E. Chisholm and a loving father who always encouraged his children, Karla Noyes and Keith Chisholm, to pursue higher education. John's passion for education extended beyond his family as he generously volunteered his time at Warwick Elementary, teaching children STEM exercises.
In addition to his dedicated family life and career, John found solace in various hobbies and interests. He adored Mickey Mouse as his favorite mascot and often entertained his children by impersonating Mickey Mouse in public places. John also had a keen interest in cars, gardening, current events, history, and a shared love of dogs with his wife Cathy. Together they frequented many dog shows. He was often seen in Hawaiian shirts and loved taking Hawaiian vacations with family.
John served his country with honor in the Navy as a Radar Maintenance Technician aboard the USS Saratoga from 1958 to 1962. His military service exemplified his sense of duty and patriotism.
Among his proudest achievements were providing a solid education for Keith and Karla, contributing to their schools through volunteering activities, and participating in the St. James Catholic Church choir.
John Franklin Chisholm will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering support for others' growth, and contagious passion for learning. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
John was preceded in death by his wife Catherine E. Chisholm and is survived by his sister, Maralee Lopez, daughter, Karla Noyes, son, Keith Chisholm, son-in-law, Matt Noyes, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Chisholm, and grandkids, Kelsie Chisholm, Morgan Chisholm, Jacob Chisholm, Carter Noyes, Landon Noyes, and Emerson Noyes.
