Jeremy was born October 5, 1998, in Wichita, KS, and died on June 27, 2023 in Sacramento, CA, at the age of 24. He is survived by his parents, Phil and Linda, and older brother Nathan (Summer) Sommerville.
As a child, Jeremy was creative, energetic, and smart. He loved playing pretend and playing video games, particularly Legend of Zelda. He wanted to be a geologist when he grew up.
He later graduated from Western Sierra Collegiate Academy and then Sierra College, and took courses at Jessup University, majoring in psychology, and became interested in possibly becoming a researcher.
Jeremy struggled with bipolar and ADHD for much of his life, which brought many daily challenges. Sadly, it is believed that his mental health issues may have led him to unintentionally take his own life.
While Jeremy’s life was cut far too short, there is hope in the midst of this tragedy— just 2 months ago, a cousin led Jeremy to surrender his life to Christ (after 10 years of being a devout atheist). It is comforting to know that Jeremy is now beyond the pain of his earthly life, in the presence of his Savior.

Note about Worship Leaders for Memorial:
Petsy Proett
Petsy, a friend of the family for many years, plays harp for patients at the Kaiser Roseville Hospital. A recent sweet memory of Jeremy is from a couple months ago when Petsy played harp for Jeremy’s grandfather who was in the hospital, while Jeremy held his hand. Jeremy began singing along—even though he didn’t know all the words or even the melodies.
Will Derryberry
Will is a longtime friend of the Sommervilles, and a recording artist who serves as the worship leader at Life Community Church where Linda sang on his worship team for many years.
We are thankful to both Petsy and Will for helping us remember and celebrate Jeremy’s life.
