Ivan Vlaykov

Ivan Vlaykov, aged 63, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024 in Sacramento, CA surrounded by family and friends.  He was born on February 26, 1961 in Svishtov, Bulgaria, to parents Evgeniya and Angel.  Later they moved to his father’s home town Troyan where Ivan spent his childhood and teenage years.  He was very outgoing and had many friends who loved his witty sense of humor.

Ivan graduated from Vasil Levski High School in 1979 and then attended the mandatory military for two years.  He met the love of his life Liliana in Troyan and they married on October 24, 1982.  Shortly after they moved to the capital city - Sofia, where their daughter Eva was born in 1983.  In 1995 Ivan moved with his family to the United States and settled in Sacramento, California.  He completed his Associate Degree in Computer Science and began his career with Hewlett Packard, where he worked for almost 30 years.  Ivan was well respected by coworkers and friends as he was very knowledgeable, a great problem solver, and always knew how to make people laugh.

Ivan took pride in the beautiful home he created with his wife and loved to host fun parties with friends.  He had many hobbies including playing the guitar, cycling, photography, hiking and traveling among others.  He loved riding his bicycle and in 2014 he completed the California Triple Crown Long Distance Bicycling - three Double Centuries (200 miles in one day, three times in one season).  One of his favorite things to do was play with his grandson John.  He was very creative and always found fun projects and games for him.  Ivan is survived by his mother Evgeniya and father Angel, his wife Liliana, his daughter Eva and her husband Matt, and his grandson John.  His family has chosen to host a celebration of life on May 18, 2024 for close family and friends to reminisce and honor the life of Ivan.
