Heidi Eagle was born Heidi Anne Holmstedt, August 4, 1968 in New London, CT. She was so proud to have grown up in Mystic, a seaport town and environment that she loved dearly.
She attended Broadway School, Deans Mill School, Mystic Middle, and graduated Stonington High School in 1987. In 1990 she went on to earn a B.S. in Mathematics from Simmons College, Boston; followed by a Master's in Math Education from University of South Florida, Tampa.
Heidi met her soul mate and best friend, Michael Eagle in October 1986 when he was attending the Coast Guard Academy. They have been married 26 years and went on to spend a life filled with Coast Guard love and adventure. They expanded their incredible friend circle each time they moved having resided in New London, CT, Pensacola, FL, Clearwater, FL, Kodiak, AK, Williamsburg, VA, Pembroke Pines, FL, Fairfax, VA, and lastly Sacramento, CA, where Mike would retire as a Captain after a distinguished career.
Heidi and Mike have 4 beautiful children: Emily, 19, is a sophomore at Ball State University for Musical Theater, Cassie, 15, is a sophomore in high school, Taylor, 10, is in 5th grade and Charlie, 8, is in 3rd grade. Other than her beautiful husband Mike, Heidi is also survived by her loving parents and siblings: Anne and Herbert Holmstedt Sr. of Mystic, Herbert Holmstedt Jr. of Cranston, RI, Mary Gardner of Gales Ferry, CT, Eric Holmstedt of Warwick, RI, and the wonderful author Kirsten Holmstedt of Mystic, CT. Heidi also dearly loves her 16 wonderful nieces and nephews.
As she departs this world, Heidi has two messages - Please enjoy the beautiful paradise of the earth and ocean that presents us with so many opportunities to grow and love. But most importantly…through this horrible disease of colon cancer, she learned the necessity of self-advocacy for medical care. Bottom line, if something does not feel right, get checked. It may be the best thing you ever do, not only for yourself, but your family that loves you so much!
