Gloria was born and raised in Le Sueur, MN. As a child, she loved having her dad take the family on car rides around town, a tradition her husband kept going throughout her life. Her first job was at Green Giant, pulling tassels off corn. She then moved into the production plant where she became the fastest canner in the building. Once she graduated from school she got a job at an advertising agency in Minneapolis. She met the earthly love of her life, Charles Hillestad while still in high school. They married when he got out of the Navy and started a family which he eventually moved to California. She helped him run his ice cream business for awhile then went to Sierra Gardens Elementary School working as secretary until she retired at 75. She loved working with the kids there, watching them grow and mature. She kept track of quite a few of them through their adulthood. God and family were most important to her. She loved going to visit her siblings in MN and then shopping at The Mall of America. Actually, when it came to shopping, she just loved to shop. Once she had grandchildren, she spent Sundays after church playing with them.
She is now at peace and with her Lord, her husband, her son, and all her other people whom she has been missing for so long. She is survived by daughter Pam, grandchildren Autumn and Lauren and great granddaughter Summer.
