Gerald John LeVesque, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025.
Born on April 8, 1944, in Alliance, Ohio, to Gerald Joseph LeVesque and Mary Louise Becker, Gerald grew up in a large and loving family with seven brothers and sisters. As a young man, he was deeply involved in Scouting, ultimately earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued to give back to the program by working at local Scout camps in the surrounding mountains, learning skills that later shaped and enriched his life.
Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Captain with the 9th Infantry Division Artillery. He completed three tours in Vietnam and was recognized for his dedication and heroism with numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Bronze Star—one of the nation’s highest decorations for meritorious service in a combat zone.
On November 27, 1971, Gerald married the love of his life, Nancy Jane Norman, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. They built their life together in Southern California, where Gerald had grown up. He earned an Associate’s Degree and went on to a long and successful career as a financial planner and insurance agent, serving his clients and community for more than 50 years.
Gerald was also a devoted supporter of the Assistance League of San Bernardino, lending his craftsmanship year after year to build props for their annual Headdress Ball, a fundraiser benefiting local children in need. His talent and generosity were a hallmark of who he was. He could fix anything, and he was always building—whether it was a project around the house or, quite literally, the family home he constructed with his own two hands.
Above all, Gerald was selfless. His family was his greatest joy, and he never hesitated to set aside anything for them. He never missed a game. He was their rock, their pillar, their constant advocate. There was no problem he couldn’t solve, no moment when he wasn’t there.
Gerald was preceded in death by his brother Tim LeVesque; his sisters Tony LeVesque, Beth Deermer and Cynthia LeVesque.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Jane LeVesque; his children Brooke Orendorff and Norman LeVesque; his son-in-law Jim Orendorff and daughter-in-law Megan LeVesque; and his grandchildren Luke, Audrey, and Sadie Orendorff, and Hudson and Harper LeVesque. He is also survived by his siblings Chris Cooley, Penny Bassford, and Matt LeVesque, as well as many extended family members and friends who cherished him.
A memorial service will be held on December 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620. A reception will follow at the home of his daughter, Brooke Orendorff.
He will be forever missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion will live on through his family. Until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
