Emblem

Today we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Frank Elihu Wilgus, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend. Frank was a man of many talents and passions, but above all, he was a loving and devoted family man.

As my father, Frank had an immeasurable impact on my life. He was a quiet man, but his love spoke volumes. His intelligence, kindness and giving nature were evident in everything he did. Frank approached life’s challenges head on, setting an example of strength and resilience for all who knew him.

Frank’s passions were as diverse as they were deep. Frank loved his grandchildren and took pride and great pleasure in attending all of their extracurricular activities. He found joy in the outdoors, whether camping, hunting, or fishing. His garden was a source of pride, and he delighted in sharing its bounty with others. Frank also had a love for German dancing, which brought him and others great pleasure. An avid reader and lifelong learner, he instilled in us the importance of education and continuous growth.

As a high school teacher with a Master’s degree, Frank touched countless lives. His dedication to his students was unwavering, and he took great pride in helping shape young minds. Beyond the classroom, Frank’s commitment to service was evident in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus and his entrepreneurial spirit in running two small businesses – Little Bear Gun Works and Craft Master Painting.

Frank’s 66-year marriage was a testament to his devotion and love. He and his wife built a life filled with mutual respect, shared interests, and enduring companionship. The birth of his children was among his proudest moments, and his unconditional love for his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Frank had a good sense of humor and a way of making others feel at ease in his presence. He was genuinely interested in people, always ready to listen and offer support. His problem-solving skills and handyman abilities were legendary, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

The values Frank lived by and passed on to us are his lasting legacy. He taught us to be true to ourselves, to live honestly and compassionately, and to always be willing to help others. These lessons will continue to guide us and honor his memory.

As we bid farewell to Frank, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace in heaven. We will continue to honor his memory by living good and honorable lives, knowing that one day we will see him again. Frank would want us to remember him for his unconditional love, and that is precisely what we shall do.

Frank Elihu Wilgus, you were loved, you are missed, and you will forever remain in our hearts.

I love you Dad
