Elva joined her husband in the early morning of June 20, 2014. Harold was waiting for her on the other side of the vale with out-stretched arms to help her step over. He was a big man and held her hand tight this time to make sure she did not slip back. With her hand in his and a Martini in the other, he welcome her to their new home and new adventure.
Elva was a strong willed and brave woman who left her home in at the age of 14 to become a full time caretaker for a Dentist's family in Wisconsin. From there, she saved enough money to buy a one way train ticket to San Francisco and by herself, made the journey not knowing where she would land or who she would meet. With her vibrant personality and strong will, she landed a job with the Emporium in down town San Francisco where she learned the art of engraving jewelry. This is where she learned the value and appreciation of fine jewelry. She didn't go anywhere without her jewels. While living in San Francisco she made long lasting friendships that she cultivated throughout her 90 years. She traveled all over the Bay Area and eventually ventured out to Merced to meet up with friends. This is where she met and fell in love with Harold. They were married and soon had three children, raising them in the Bay Area. Elva had several homes during her ninety years here on earth. Wisconsin, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Mt. View, Sunnyvale, Sonora and finally Rocklin. Everywhere she went she met new people and made lifelong friends. People were drawn to her giving and bright personality. You couldn't help but love her.
Elva had a unique eye for antiques, Christmas decorating and gardening. Her beautifully decorated Christmas trees with fascinating bubble lights were everyone's visual treat during Christmas. Her green thumb produced elegant gardens both inside and out. She took such pleasure in caring for all living things. She loved her family and friends. Every corner in her house had pictures of kids, grandkids, great grandkids, friends, nieces, nephews, dogs, cats. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Elva has completed her journey here on earth and is off to her next adventure. We know during her passing, she was not alone, that Harold was there to witness her passing and encourage her along. She is with the love of her life now. Elva and Harold are sharing the memories they made together here on earth and looking forward to the new experiences they will share for eternity together.
