Edward S. Michalek (known to his friends and family as Edd, “Edd with 2 D’s”), 81, of Lincoln, CA, passed away on November 27, 2025. He was born on July 26, 1944, in Washington DC to John and Cathryn Michalek, and had one sibling, a brother John ‘Jack’ Michalek. Edd was a kind and loyal person with a good heart and good sense of humor.
After the passing of Edd’s father, his mother Cathryn moved West with her sons to San Francisco, CA. Edd graduated from Galileo High School and was later drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Shortly after his service in the Army, he found a career that he loved and cherished in law enforcement. He joined the California Highway Patrol in 1969, completing his CHP career as a Sergeant in the early 1980’s. He later became a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal until he officially retired. He was proud of his law enforcement career with the CHP and U.S Marshal service.
Outside of his professional life, Edd loved the dogs that he had throughout his life. He also loved hotrods and sports cars, entering his 1967 Jaguar in car shows. He also liked watching drag racing and NASCAR. He enjoyed reading about and watching history shows on the Knights Templar, Vikings, U.S. history and many other historical topics. Edd was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, Golden State Warriors and the Duke Blue Devils basketball team (notably the Coach K era). Throughout Edd’s life he played in sports leagues such as bowling, basketball and softball.
Edd is survived by his wife Clare; daughter Tracy; son Darren; stepdaughter Brook; daughter-in-law Bonnie and grandchildren Ryan, Ethan, Evan, Kayden and Cameron.
Edd will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of honor, loyalty, kindness and humor will forever be cherished.
