Born in Teculután, Zacapa, Guatemala, Eduardo was the beloved son of Zoila Morayma Castañeda-Navarra and Antonino Sosa de Castañeda. He grew up alongside his brother Rodolfo Antonio Sosa and half-brothers Jose and Cesar Sosa.
Eduardo attended the Military School Politécnica in Guatemala City before immigrating to the United States at 19 to reunite with his mother in La Jolla, California, and pursue the American Dream. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, graduating in 1971.
After moving to San Francisco, Eduardo met and fell in love with his lifelong partner, Luisa. Together, they raised two daughters, Jessica and Zoily. He worked many years as a mechanic for the San Francisco Municipal District and later as a pipefitter in various California refineries.
Later in life, Eduardo joined Luisa in her housecleaning business, supporting her with driving and client services. Together, they worked hard to fulfill their dream of building a home in Guatemala to retire and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Eduardo accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in Guatemala. He loved spending time with his family—his daughters, sons-in-law Oscar and Roberto, and grandchildren Samantha, Adrian, Beatrice, Kailah, Roberto, Santiago, Cristiano, and Renzo. He also cherished his nieces and nephews and their children.
His passions included watching the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, cooking, gardening, reading his Bible, and playing games on his phone.
Eduardo’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with love and kindness.
