Dorothy Carol Nordt

Dorothy Nordt, 92 went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2023. She was born on August 27, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jack.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Ronald Nordt, along with his wife, Lori of Manhattan, Kansas, and a daughter Cheryl Spaid along with her husband Steve of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, a sister, Ruth Ann Cairns of Orange, California., nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Dorothy attended Yuba City High School and graduated from Sacramento State University. She worked several years as a third grade teacher at Dyer Kelly Elementary School. Dorothy left teaching when her first child, Ron, was born, and became a mom and homemaker.

She met her future husband in high school. They were married June 16, 1951, in the First Christian Church of Marysville, California. Her husband was in the Army and in 1952 he was transferred to Fort Benning, Georgia. On their drive to Georgia, they stopped at several places including the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns and New Orleans. Later in life she traveled to Sweden, Germany and Austria. She also made two trips to the Holy Land. The first in 1984, with Campus Crusade and Josh McDowell.  The second in 1994 with Pastor Cole.

Dorothy was always active in church, and was the Women’s Bible Study Leader at Capital Christian Center. She also spent time as a Bible study leader at the Alpha Hensen’s Home for Women, part of Teen Challenge.

One of the highlights in Dorothy’s life was when she had an opportunity to host Corrie Ten Boom at her home in Phoenix.

She and her husband moved to Roseville, California, in 1986 and remained there until her death.
