Dorothy Mae Hall, 88, passed away on October 10, 2024, in Roseville, CA. Born on March 27, 1936, in Onega, Kansas to Thelma and Theodore Thompson. Dorothy affectionately known as Dottie, was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of kindness and dedication.

Dottie grew up attending Onega High School and soon after, began her lifelong journey of hard work and service. She initially waitressed in her hometown diner in Onega, Kansas, and later moved to Topeka, where she worked at the Capitol building as a phone operator. It was here that she met her husband, Dave, an airman, setting the stage for a devoted life as a military spouse. Throughout her life, Dottie held various roles, from a school lunch lady to a house cleaner meeting rigorous Air Force standards, and eventually worked for American/Olean Tile in Roseville, where she retired.

Her generosity extended beyond her professional life. Dottie was deeply involved in her community, known for her presence in “neighborhood patrols”, and as she would say she “ensured everyone's safety” while she fostered connections up and down the block. She was also an avid golfer since the 1970s, actively participating and volunteering at the Antelope Greens Golf Course. Dottie was a voracious reader. Most days you could find her reading on her porch swing in the backyard with her diet pepsi in hand. She especially loved John Grisham and Sue Grafton. She often bragged that she read all the Sue Grafton novels, A-Y.

Dottie's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her son, Dennis, daughter-in-law, Jeannine, grandchildren Hayley, Tyler, Gabrielle, and Selena; and siblings Jerry, Sis, Loreen, Deenie, and Trish. She was preceded in death by her husband David Watson, son David Jeffrey, brother William "Bill" Thompson, and sister-in-law Carole Thompson.

An intimate service to honor Dottie life will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, on Thursday, November 21, at 11:30 AM (arrival time 11:00), followed by a Celebration of Life at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel, Rocklin, California, at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to her heart, reflecting her support for the military community.
