Don was born and raised in Sand Francisco. He graduated from Galileo High School in 1946. He went into the army and then became a Paratrooper. After the service he went on to study architecture. He married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Paladini in 1950. They had a daughter, Debra, in 1956.
He was an artist and craftsman with wood and started Precision Wood Products in San Francisco, specializing in circular wood stairs. He moved to Marin County to live, and moved the business with him, we here he had Marin Stair Mill. He eventually moved the business to Petaluma, where he had Advanced Stair Design with his partner Toni Negre.
He retired in 1996 and moved to Lincoln Hills in Lincoln, California in 2000, where he met many wonderful people and made many great friends. His happiness was making beautiful wood bracelets and jewelry.
He was a devoted son to the late Peter and Lucile Tomei, brother to the late Richard Tomei, and brother to Gail Paper. Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey; daughter Debra Eves and son-in-law Mark Eves; and grandfather to Garrett Eves.
He was surrounded by family and extended family when he passed away on August 2nd, 2014. He will be missed and remembered for his great sense of humor, his laugh, great talent, and his kindness to all.
A special thank you to Kiki Paladini (brother-in-law) and all his friends, who have been so helpful. We wish to thank everyone for joining us in the celebration of Don's life.
