Donald Cedric Tebbs a longtime resident of Granite Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.
Donald was born September 11, 1933 in Goldendale, Washington to Cedric and Anna Tebbs. His family moved to White Salmon Washington when he was in the 6th grade. He was an avid athlete at Columiba High School where he excelled as a point guard in basketball, quarterback for the football team, pitcher in baseball, and ran track. He was also involved in chorus and was vice president and class president.
Following high school he went to Central Washington college for two years. He obtained his bachelors degree in Business at Heald College.
He joined the Navy in 1957 and spent most of his service on the USS Bonhomme Richard and was honorably discharged in December of 1961.
Donald meet his wife Sandra Schmitt in San Mateo CA in 1966 and they were married in 1967 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2017. While he lived most of his life in California he had a love for his home state of Washington and would visit nearly every year for family reunion, class reunion, or the infamous huckleberry trek.
He worked 40 years for the State of California at the board of equalization. Retiring in 1995. Upon retirement he filled his days traveling with his wife in their RV, playing tennis with friends and attending the events of his grandchildren. His sense of humor was solid till the end. He would have a punchline when you least expected it. HIs one liner and quick wit may have been from his love of those "classics" like Airplane or Sledgehammer.
He was known for his big smile and loved by all who had the blessing of knowing him. He was not ashamed of his faith and love for Jesus and sharing the good news. Donald was a loved member of the LifeHouse church and served at the Sierra College Blvd Baptist/Lifehouse church for over 35 years.
