Darrell passed away in his sleep on June 16th 2020, surrounded by his cats, dog, and wife by his side. He had battled health issues for the past few years, and after a very adventurous life, is now at rest.
On October 2nd, 1951, Darrell was born in Richmond, California, to Helen Fox and Sterrell Burrough. He has an older sister, Carolyn. While growing up, his family always had various animals and pets around including cats, dogs, horses, and even a monkey. This loving environment gave him an eternal soft spot in his heart for all animals. He was known for coming home from a quick grocery trip with a new furry friend.
His mother went on to marry Carl Woodruff, a pilot in the United States Air Force, who inspired him to join the United States Army when he was 17 years old. Darrell took on many different careers after ending his time in the military as a combat medic during the Vietnam War. He always referred to all veterans as his brothers and would do anything to help them.
He was the hardest working, dedicated, intelligent, and stubborn person the world has ever seen. Anyone who knew him was blessed by his compassion and sacrifice for others. Darrell's generosity was inspiring. He would feed strangers if they looked hungry, give his jacket to someone who just looked cold, and be a friend to whoever needed one.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughters, Tiffany, Raquel, and Devon; and grandchildren Amy, Brooke, Lucas, and Theodore. He is in heaven with his oldest daughter, Dawn.
