Darlene Ann O'Leary passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side on April 1, 2016. She was born in Yreka, Ca, on February 25, 1934 to ranching parents Eric Rudolph Johnson and Margaret Aldeane Johnson.
Graduating from Yreka High School in 1951, Darlene then attended U.C. Berkeley for three years, majoring in music. She met on a blind date, her husband, Karl T. Stricker, a civil engineer major. Married for twenty-four years, they briefly lived in San Pedro and Sacramento, but were able to fulfill their dream of having a ranch in Wilton, Ca. They raised four children: Douglas, David, Eric and Kathryn. Darlene loved gardening, cooking, baking, was an excellent seamstress, as well as a piano music teacher her whole life.
In 1991, she moved to Rocklin, Ca, where she was actively involved with the City of Rocklin theatrical arts as a piano accompanist for 17 years. She retired from that at the age of seventy-five only to become fully involved in The Springtons singing group at Springfield at Whitney Oaks.She (leaves behind) her four children and their spouses: Douglas Stricker and Sharon Brinsko, David Stricker and Connie Stricker, Eric Stricker and Pamela Stricker, Kathryn Wallace and Terry Wallace and five grandchildren: Timothy Stricker, Erica Harrell, Christina Bills, Troy Stricker and Kelly Wallace and her sister, Norma Holt, as well as many dear friends.
