Darleen Gail Giannini was born on June 19, 1943, in Alameda, California, and raised in San Leandro. She passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in Lincoln, California. She was a remarkable woman whose legacy of dedication and family involvement will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Darleen’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family. Married for 50 years to her beloved husband, Remy, they built a life together filled with travel and love. Darleen was incredibly proud of her sons, Keith and Kevin, and she took immense pride in being an active grandmother to Julia and Dax. The joy she derived from her grandchildren was one of her proudest accomplishments, and she shared countless memories with them that will live on in their hearts.
An accomplished professional, Darleen served as an Executive Assistant to the President of American Stores, displaying both dedication and skill. Later, she took on the role of Customer Service Supervisor, helping countless individuals. Beyond her corporate endeavors, she was also a Justice of the Peace and an Ordained Minister, committed to facilitating weddings for dozens of newlyweds. She was also passionate about her roles as a Cruise Seminar Specialist and Event Planner.
Darleen had a deep appreciation for family traditions. She lovingly revived her parents’ cherished trips along the Merced River near Yosemite, creating an annual tradition that she shared with her children, grandchildren and extended family—memories that will continue for generations.
Educated with an Associate of Arts degree from Chabot College, Darleen displayed a thirst for knowledge and engagement throughout her life. She was a vibrant soul with an array of interests, from playing Mahjong and organizing a supper club to traveling, cruising, boating, and even scuba diving. Her adventurous spirit was only matched by her commitment to family gatherings, including the Annual Aguilar Family Reunion and cherished Cousin's Weekends. Her Spanish and Portuguese heritage held a special place in her heart, influencing her strong sense of identity and family connection, l particularly with her grandmother Mamacita.
Darleen is lovingly remembered by her sons, Keith and Kevin; her grandchildren, Julia and Dax; and her sisters, Diana and Roanna. Her influence, love, and spirit will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
