LTC Daniel Reid White, Army (Ret), age 89, passed away in Roseville, CA. on Jan. 6, 2017. Reid was born in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1927 and graduated from Univ. of West Virginia with an Economics degree in 1948. He was in the ROTC in college and after graduation, commissioned in the Army as a 2nd Lt, where he served for 20 years. He had tours of duty in Korea, Japan and Viet Nam. He met his wife Joan (now deceased) and was married in 1955. They raised two children, David and Diane. In 1952, Reid served at the Univ. of Oklahoma as an instructor in Map reading and Gunnery. Later, he served in the 3rd Armor Division along with Elvis Presley in Germany. From 1962-1965, he was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. From 1965-1968, Reid served at NATO Headquarters in Izmir, Turkey. After retiring from the Army, Reid received his Masters Degree in Public Administration. He worked as a Program Analyst at McClellan AFB for several years.
Several years after the death of his wife Joan, Reid met and married Edith Velarde. He is survived by Edith, son David White, daughter Diane Sprouse, grandchildren Jennifer and Kyle. He is predeceased by grandson "Little Reid".
