Clarke William Henderson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away suddenly on August 7, 2024, in Sparks, Nevada, at the age of 79. Clarke was born on September 27, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska. Clarke was known for his warm personality, infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Clarke's family moved to Fort Bragg, CA, when he was two years old. He enjoyed his childhood at his family home among the redwoods and near the Pacific Ocean. His family moved after his junior year to Grants Pass, OR. He graduated from Grants Pass High in 1962. Following graduation he served honorably in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed in Stuttgart and Heidelberg, Germany.
Clarke dedicated himself for 35 years to the field of sales management at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, where he had significant impact through his work in Portland, OR; San Leandro, CA; Elyria, OH; and Sacramento, CA. He was a guiding force in replacement part sales across western Europe, Canada, and Mexico, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. The strong work ethic demonstrated by his parents made a big contribution to his outlook in his work and life.
Clarke's devotion to his family was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was married to his beloved wife, Margo Henderson, for 47 wonderful years. Together, they created countless happy memories, including weekend getaways to Mendocino, Monterey, and Ashland, as well as trips to Europe. Their shared enthusiasm for automobiles led them on thrilling excursions through Corvette n' America trips to remarkable destinations such as the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Route 66, Yellowstone, Death Valley, the Tetons, Bryce Canyon Park, and Zion National Park.
An avid sports enthusiast, Clarke enjoyed participating in basketball and track during his high school years. He maintained an active lifestyle, jogging extensively for 26 years before transitioning to daily gym workouts, where he greatly valued the friendships he built with his gym buddies. He could be found in the club house on a daily basis in his favorite chair.
As the oldest of nine siblings, Clarke took pride in his family heritage and looked forward to the annual Henderson family reunion each summer. He found immense joy in the activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren.
Clarke is survived by his wife, Margo; his daughter, Stephanie Henderson; his son, Kelly Carreiro; his grandchildren, Reagan Carreiro, Lorissa Johnson, Gannon Carreiro, and Kash Carreiro; his brothers, Robert Henderson and John Henderson; and his sisters, Jacqueline Heer, Gayle Sorensen, Maura Kehr, and Mary King. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Henderson; his father, Floyd Henderson; and his brothers Loren Henderson and Tommy Henderson.
Clarke's life was a testament to love, integrity, and resilience, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace and know that he is cherished always.
