CHRIS' STORY
Christopher Glenn Dancy, surrounded by his loving family, left for his heavenly home on February 27, 2021.
Chris was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on September 7, 1948, and returned to live in Germany during high school. His parents Marie Winfield Dancy and Dr. Albert Guy Dancy, Sr. preceded him in death. As an "army brat," Chris traveled extensively and almost always knew something about each location where someone lived. He graduated in 1966 from Fairfax High School, Fairfax, VA, and George Mason University in 1970. Chris then graduated from the U.S. Army's Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1971. Chris was part of the last OCS class sent to Vietnam.
After leaving the U.S. Army, prior to beginning his career, Chris and his best friend Greg (whom he met at OCS) purchased motorcycles and decided to drive along the CA coastline. That began a love of exploring new areas of the U.S. with his lifelong buddy Greg. After many successful years as an operations manager with Herman Miller (HMI), Chris accepted a promotion as the West Coast Director of Operations in Rocklin, CA. After 26 years with HMI, Chris retired and joined Principal Financial Group as a financial advisor. Chris was a board member of several non-profit organizations, serving in various capacities throughout his career, including Horizon International, Antelope Rd Christian Fellowship, and the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce.
With his gregarious personality and genuine love of people, Chris endeared himself to everyone; and he never met a stranger. He could always begin a conversation with almost anyone, using his extensive background in traveling to find a commonality with each person.
Chris is survived by his wife of 43 years Lana Dancy, two daughters Krysta Dancy Cabeal and Trysha Lee Dancy Lucero, two sons-in-law Lucas Dancy Cabeal and Michael Lucero, three grandsons Reed Cabeal, Ellis Cabeal, and Gracen Lucero, and one granddaughter Lydia Lucero, brother Guy Dancy and other numerous in-laws and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Chris' Life on Sunday, May 16th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Antelope Road Christian Fellowship (ARCF), 7951 Antelope Rd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610. The ARCF Ladies Ministry will provide finger foods for a time of fellowship immediately following this service.
